Showzam! Blackpool's Festival of Circus, Magic & New Variety
8-24 February 2008

Be thrilled, excited, amazed and entertained by Blackpool's first 2 week festival of circus, magic and new variety. There's something for everyone from free events and exhibitions, to adult shows and workshops - so decide what's for you, your friends and family and plan your visit.

Heat the Streets

Blackpool will be bathed in fire and light as we create for you a treasure hunt around the town centre with prizes for everyone in the discovery of the spectacular fire and light displays all over the town, the like of which has never been seen before in Blackpool!

On this winter's eve in February, Blackpool will come alive as acclaimed outdoor performance specialists Walk the Plank Heat the Streets with fire and other spectacular effects. The town centre will be literally alight with fiery installations and performances to warm the hearts (and hands) of spectators. Enjoy the burning Fire Garden, its flaming flowers and fire trees tended to by the pyro gardeners, while Dancing Flames and Pyrophones (musical horns which blow rhythmic flames) illuminate the rooftops and dark corners around the town centre.

See traditional skills turned into amazing performance art as a Glassblower and a Blacksmith bring their crafts to life on the streets. And don’t miss the fiery Gyroscope: flaming rope artistry, where performers spin balls of fire and fiery projections.

Grab your map and wrap up warm as you explore the resort and watch in amazement as the huge circus parade winds its way around the streets before heading to the grand Heat the Streets finale, Walk the Plank’s spectacular and dramatic show Tower of Fire featuring a giant fire structure animated with buckets of fire, waterfalls and pyrotechnic effects.
