I can confirm that it was the last night of the Funhouse tonight 31 March.

It was an excellent evening, very well organised but also emotional.

There was a small charity auction of some Pleasureland memorabilia.

Was there an organised event of some kind the Gary?

EAS, I'm very cynical about that post, though I do suspect PBB could be trying to make some fast cash if they haven't got any plans through just yet for the future of Pleasureland.

Something is certainly going on over there though...

Sefton now own the lease for the site and are looking at "Short term for the summer", then long term "sea front - classic resort" development.

I don't know exactly what a classic resort is though? With Pleasureland operating, I'd always assumed Southport WAS a classic resort!

Sefton council bought the remainder of the 100 year lease back off PBB Ltd. So Sefton now own the lease to the land.

EAS thinks that they probably also take on the fixtures too.

In reality not many historic rides left now... and as Sefton has only just bought back the lease it's early days yet. No idea what it has planned in the long term for the site.

depends what you call classic rides, most of what i would call classic are ones from my childhood in the 80s,the ones i remember ie the cablecars with the footprints to jump as the car came behind you,the river caves-same as blackpool but without the stopping mechanism, the fun house, haunted inn and in later years the log flume and wild mouse and who knows what else lies amongst the dumped equipment from blackpool that surrounds the site(its rumoured that the monster a classic ride with a beautifull twisting mechanism also lies here).this place could be a bustling fairground like it was in the 80s and if rhyl closes then two pinfari rollercoasters and the water chute incorporated into the cyclone station would further enhance the site ok it will never compete with blackpool but southport was always different , a park in the 80s you could wander through even after the park closed-how times change
