Hello

I went to Southport today 2 November 08 and the Storm Coaster at New Pleasueland has been dismantled and loaded onto trailers for removal.
The Storm (formally the Gauntlet at Camelot) is believed to have been up for sale.
The remaining rides are at the South end of the site near to the main entrance like last Winter. A Haloween party and foireworks display took place as planned.

According to reports on the New Pleasureland Forum, the park is to re-open for the 2009 season.

The long term lease was awarded to Urban Splash earlier this year for a development which was to include apartments etc. but there appears to be some delay with the project.

the state the country is in at the moment i cant see anything getting built in the near future, perhaps it would be better to give a 5 year lease to pleasureland

Even if Urban Splash get the money to go ahead, they will probably have difficulty selling apartments, especially if they are at the usual price of around £250,0000.
House prices will probably drop drastically, so some buyers will end up with negative equity.
There was also a plan for an indoor beach with a domed roof but it would probably be cheaper to go to Splashworld over the road.

it's all down to Sefton council who make their decisions 15 miles away in Bootle. I am not surprised some Southport residents want it to be part of Lancashire.
