The New Forest Theme Park

Postby Gary » 01 Dec 2009, 16:53

Two brothers have denied misleading customers who paid to visit their Christmas Lapland-themed attraction.

Victor and Henry Mears, of Brighton, face criminal charges at Bournemouth Crown Court over their roles in the theme park in the New Forest near Ringwood, on the Dorset-Hampshire border.

The Lapland attraction closed after a few days in the run-up to last Christmas after thousands of complaints.

Victor, 66, of Selsfield Drive, and Henry, 59, of Coombe Road, both pleaded not guilty to the same nine charges of engaging in a commercial practice which is a misleading action during the hearing.

The case was adjourned for another pre-trial hearing on December 22 and they were both released on bail until then.

Dorset County Council trading standards brought about the case under the Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

It claims the average customer would have been misled by newspaper adverts, flyers and website information about what to expect at the attraction.

They relate to the quality of activities at the site, such as the tunnel of light, and allegations that the extra charge for the use of the ice rink was not advertised.
Please pass through the turnstiles if you are riding again.
