Sad news from Felixstowe....

http://www.eveningstar.co.uk/news/galle ... g_1_892492

I've spent many a happy hour or two at Charlie Mannings.

I always remember when I was about 12 or 13, I lost my train fare (all of 35p!) on a ride on the park, and because he could see I was upset, asked me what was wrong.

After I explained, Charlie gave me 50p so I could get home!

Rest in peace Charlie.

I'm sad to hear the news.

Although I didn't know the man personally I knew his famous name.

One of life's true gentlemen, I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie on quite a few occasions throughout my working life in connection with the amusement trade, genuine and kind hearted, he enjoyed a passion in all that he had achieved and so open in sharing without hesitation if he could help you out , he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

RIP
