Coney Beach Amusement Park Under Threat

Postby Bob » 30 Aug 2005, 18:22

Yet another long standing amusement park is potentially under threat. The dreaded word REGENERATION is being spouted by the local council. The Funfair desperately needs modernising, but as its future location is still undecided, its owners have been unable to proceed. This was reported in the Gazette recently, and no-one would invest in something that may be moved if Porthcawl's regeneration ever gets off the drawing board. This is a worrying sign and standard practice by councils wanting to do their own thing. They leave a cloud of uncertainty over it. No investment is made and it slowly declines. They are already proposing Yes you've guesed it housing & retail development and an Arts centre so no suprise there.

Coney Park will looking a little down at heal is still a thriving Park which has along side it what is claimed to be Europes largest Caravan park. Again the Amusement park is the key Tourist attraction for Porthcawl
