I don't see as Margate's generating enough interest or traffic to warrant any new roads.

The cages now have a six month temporary listing. Nick Dermott, heritage advisors at TDC has until March/April to come up with enough evidence, preferably visual, to try for a full listing. I would be sorry to see the cages go and I don't think Margate needs a new road to bypass the seafront. In its Arlington House area redevelopment plan, the seafront would be pedestrianised and the new road cut a swathe through the back of the park.


If Margate is to be revived, then it doesn't make sense to bypass the very thing that most sunseekers/beachgoers have driven many miles to get to, surely?

But then, this is Fannit, innit and logic doesn't apply![/i]

A postcard of Captain Sadler carrying a lion has just come up on eBay (I'm not sure if I've done the link correctly). It might be of interest to the campaign, for museum/archive purposes......?

Cool! One more piece someone could/should buy and donate to the displays in the re-vamped theatre.
Dreamland itself should have a nice little indoor display of memorabilia somewhere.

Pending a news story, as Nick has his hands full at the mo, have just heard that the cages have been Grade II listed. I haven't seen the listing yet, so I don't know exactly what's covered, but this is excellent news.

Yet another in a crescendo of recent good news items regarding this Campaign of late. It's quite joyful to hear such uplifting stories in the current, rather generally, less than inspiring climate.

Very well done to all concerned with this positive new local listing. It can surely only be good for Margate's future prospects.
