Postby dave771 » 06 Sep 2004, 12:30

Just wanted to say a big thankyou to all that attended on Saturday night for our late night opening on the Scenic Railway.

Would like to thank the following for all their help and support in making Saturday night's event go ahead,

Dave Wallis for allowing us to have the event on his site and the contribution towards the cost of the night,

Nick Laister , Sarah Vickery, Simon Goodenough - even with a broken wrist! Tina, Adam and Kelly Goodenough, Dave and Adam for the lighting and smoke machines! Steve and Caroline Pankhurst for lighting, Chris and Les for all their clearing up and getting coffee's for us! Also to Ross and John Paul for staying when they finished work to help us out,

Also not forgetting our thanks to Sarah and Papps fish and chip shop for sorting out our slight catering problems at very short notice,

Hope you all had a great time,

Dave

Don't forget yourself Dave. Thanks for all your effort as well!!! Thanks to You, Simon, Tina, Adam (even though he's a Gooner!), Kelly and even Dingo for all you have done over the season to keep everything running. The Scenic seems to be a labour of love for most of you.

Good to meet a few people from the forum on Saturday night that were there for Dreamland and not just the Coaster!! The campaign is more than just the Scenic its about Dreamland as a whole and I think some forget that .

Anyway cheers once again to everyone.

See you next season!!!!

It's a shame the last weekend was at a time when I was already away.

I would love to have met up with you all, and my mobile roadshow might have been useful by the sound of it!

Let's hope for some good news.

Vince.

Hi all,

Yes, Saturday night was quite sensational, despite all the odds, like the sudden catering problems. I'm sure Papps fish and chip shop appreciated the welcome increased business. Unfortunately I was rather burnt out after three early work shifts to be at my best. At least I could actually attend though without having to try to get sudden leave booked off.

Yes AJ, I guess it could sometimes seem that the Scenic is the only main attraction on our minds at Dreamland, but I for one certainly can't but reminisce about all the former rides that used to occupy the now barren hallowed grounds towards where the River Caves used to occupy. The area towards the former, now closed, arcade and restaurant/ buffet building seems quite endless now.

Let's hope at this year's end we have some positive news, if the Local Plan Inquiry submits its final verdicts. Dreamland's true revival can then start taking shape hopefully.

Martin

PS Nice to speak to people who took the trouble to travel from further afield, like Manchester, and the friendly ladies I spoke to from Rayleigh, Essex. Well done; hope you can stay in touch with the Campaign.

Hi to everyone. Special thank you to Dave, Simon, Tina, Sarah and Nick and to all who provided the 'special effects', it did make it extra special!

There is nothing to beat riding the scenic in the dark. I can't remember ever leaving Dreamland at 12.40am. Wonderful!

Hope to see you all next year.

Hi Dave,
We would like to add that we all enjoyed Saturday 4/9 very much and to thank everyone for making Leannes 17th birthday very special. She claims that she enjoyed the best birthday. The atmosphere and the Scenic in the dark with all the extras was wonderful.

Leannes grandparents and Greataunt who rode the scenic during the fifties and forties enjoyed a nostalgic trip and will repeat it again next year when their old bones recover, not from the scenic but from laughing so much. No seatbelts in the old days, needed assistance to be strapped in. Thank you again to everybody, especially Dave for all the efforts and hard work preserving the scenic.
