US Conference on Preserving Historic Recreation Sites

Postby chadr » 06 Jan 2005, 19:56

On May 5-7, 2005 the US National Park Service is hosting a conference on preserving historic recreation and entertainment sites. Called Preserve and Play, the conference will bring together historians, architects, preservationists, conservationists, facility operators, planners, owners, and recreation enthusiasts to share information, strategies, and techniques for protecting historic recreation sites. From stadiums and swimming pools to amusement parks to bowling alleys, much of our heritage of play is threatened by new development and shifts in popular tastes; Come hear about examples that are holding on and prospering in the 21st century. Check out the website at: www.preserveandplay.org for more information or email me at: chad_randl@nps.gov.

Best wishes for the new year.
