Margate 1 May

Hi All,
Jacqui and I visited Margate on bank holiday Sunday and were able to visit the Shell Grotto which incidently dispenses the best, good value refreshments available in Margate. and which has a nice relaxing atmosphere We met Dave and Sarah and we were made very welcome and spent an enjoyable time discussing current issues re Dreamland. Another bank holiday yet still unopened although we were able to ascertain from John, now working in the carpark Dreamland that work is in progress. The original scenic team who worked so hard last season are no longer involved with the maintainence or operation of the Scenic this season. However perhaps its a possibility for seasoned Save Dreamland campaigners to meet up at the site and enjoy an official get-together perhaps especially like last year on the last day.
We noticed a number of posters around Margate advertising the opening date and the end of the season which is the 4th September.At the end of the day as we were leaving the back of Dreamland carpark we saw one of the rides Top-Buzz already up with its lights working .

Yes Alan, a good idea for an unofficial meet-up, but why not at the start of the season as well? Sod's Law has it that May 21 is my first day back at work after three rest days! - but I could probably get to Dreamland around 4pm ish; hopefully the park will open til quite late.

Incidentally, over the last two years I've always wanted to emulate the Fools & Horses style run down to Margate stopping at the Roman Galley pub on the way down from Maidstone. Any takers? - just have to look out for a yellow Reliant Robin now I suppose - only kidding. (Actually I did attempt the aforementioned one such trip down last summer, only to find the above venue closed for a private evening function). Have to plan well ahead this season.

The countdown to park relaunch continues - 17 days to go.

ya would be great for everyone to meet up on the reopening day. I will be there definitly with all my family and girlfriend (since it's my birthday I told everyone we're going to dreamland for the open day)
