Wh?o's running the Scenic Railway?

Had a good day at Dreamland today, though I have to say it doesn't look like Dreamland used to - more a travelling fair really, but mustn't grumble - at least it's open! However, there seemed to be some problems with the Scenic Railway... Just wondered who's running it - the people that usually do, or whether its new people associated with Harry Ayers?

When I first arrived, it wasn't open (the scenic I mean) - there were a couple of blokes walking the track checking for something or other. Then it did open, but by the time my kids went to queue, it seemed to be having problems. I heard it was running too fast, alarms kept going off, lots of attention was being paid to it by a couple of blokes running it, as it went round the track... Though by the time I left the park it seemed to be going smoothly again. I was just wondering though if it's because the people running it aren't used to it Or it may even have had something to do with the rain... does rain affect it? I'm not technically minded so I wouldn't know

Am not going to say too much but I was at the park on Saturday and it had to close due to faulty brakes, on Sunday the other train was out but had to close due to apparently a split collar which is the timber supporting the track on the legs. If there is heavy rain the ride should not run.

I was at the park on Sunday along with Dave Collard and Ian from the European Coaster Club. Have to agree with the previous park condition comments.

The Scenic was just being tested it appeared. The only difference I could see with the ride was some new white paint on certain hand rails, and new white paint on the right hand side old "shack" near the old under-ride pathway. Hard to see where the £20,000 investment had gone I felt.

PS I spent £20 on tokens but as it was a mostly wet day I hardly used any.

Thanks for the replies, it all makes interesting reading. I didn't feel quite right about things, the way it was being checked and watched etc, and I got my children out of the queue and told them they could go on it another time (cue tantrums!) I'll admit to being a born worrier, but I just didn't feel happy about it at that particular time.

PS The girl on the gate was quite accomodating - we were a family of 5 adults and 3 kids, and she said we could go in with just the tenner worth of tokens which should only really be admitting 5 people, so they're being quite good about the entry system. (Though we ended up getting 20 quids worth in the end knowing how much the kids (and the adults) like fairgrounds!).

One other thing - apparently the blue bonus tokens can't be used on there own i.e. only with red tokens, so make sure you use those blue ones up early on before you run out of the red!
