Waiting for a report?

You were obviously not at the Save Dreamland Convention then...two hands? We half-filled a theatre!

David.

Correct David regarding the number of supporters this campaign has. Also in what way is it relevent? It's not the campaign supporters who would run the park, or be the only visitors, so where is the connection between Dreamland being viable and the size of the campaign.

The truth is that Dreamland is viable, the only reason it's like this right now is Bob's mate Jimmy didn't get his own way with the council and took all the attractions away out of spite.

I know this for sure as a close friend's sister saw it happen first hand.

Phillip Miller & Southend Council have settled the disagreements over the Adventure Island site, with an agreement on a 99year lease of the site and the possibility of Phillip Miller taking on the old Never Never Land site oposite the original side of the park.

He still wants to take on the pier but from what I have heard the Pier is loosing vast amounts of money for the council estimated at almost £100,000 per year.

Not a good example. Disnyland Paris has made heavy losses ever since it has opened. Disny have tried to sell it a couple of times but had no takers. It remains under the threat of closure. So I am afraid it not a success story and that for a site that has had very heavy investment in it. It shows how difficult it is to make money from thee venture in a cold north european climate. For less money you can go to Disnyland in California and be guaranteed good weather. This is another reason why Disnyland Paris has not been a success.

Not the most intelligent reply!

A family of four will cost anywhere between £1200 and £3000 just to fly to LAX, top that off with food accomadation etc for two weeks and you are into serious money!
My last trip to DLP cost me £350 including Eurostar direct travel, 3 nights stay in a Disney hotel and 4 days passes (I have just got back from Halloween at WDW in Orlando and my park passes for my family cost £450 alone )
It was off season and at the weekend the place was heaving!
These comments do usually come from people who have never even been to the place, the worst thing about DLP are the lines which are often 2 hours for rides such as Big Thunder Mountain, even in the winter!
Disneyland Paris is the top tourist attraction in Europe with the largest visitor numbers of any but admittidly still suffering from its start up costs, it is also a franchise not owned by the Disney company so how could they sell it?

We tend to go to DLP in the off season becuase there are little options in England to ride out of season, It is such a shame one of the big Park opperators dont go for the Christmas season in the UK. There is a big hole out there waiting for someone to fill it.

I have to agree with Marky66 - I HAVE this week booked a trip to Florida for next year (four travelling), and it's costing £4637.60 and that's without Disney tickets for two of us, as I over bought last time and have 2x 3-days left in Disney on non-expiring tickets.

A shorter trip to Florida is not much cheaper.

The Interim Inspector's Report page on the TDC website is currently being updated, so it will be available soon, I think.

http://www.thanet.gov.uk/cgi-bin/buildpage.pl?mysql=98

There is a press conference at 2.30pm at TDC offices, regarding the release of the report. I have already been contacted by the BBC, who will be looking for reaction to the report later today.
