Hi and good luck!

The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

Hi,
Let me introduce myself, my name is Mark, i'm from Rochdale, Lancs so being a northerner i'll be honest and say that until recently (i've only just got internet access) i'd never heard of "Dreamland" and my (and my girlfriends) usual haunt is Blackpool Pleasure Beach, anyway when we go to Blackpool we normally stay the weekend and at our B&B I said to my girlfriend that we should visit Morecambe and go to "Frontierland" (she's originally from London and moved to be with me) This was last month and untill the landlord told me it was shut down I didn't know, anyway when he told me that I was quite upset and full of memories of when I went there in the 80's and 90's, so when I got net access a couple of weeks ago I was googleing "Frontierland" and got brought to this site a few times, I really had no idea that the fairground and theme park industry was in such a state, I've probably been very naive to see what these property developers will do for a quick quid and I find it very annoying that the councils go along with it for quick money then wonder why the tourist figures are dropping, it would have been nice for some sort of campaign lake this for frontierland but hey, no-one can take my memories, I wish you all the luck with this campaign as we can't afford this great industry to be taken away for these developers to make quick cash, sorry, my rant is now over  [/b]

We're fortunate that Dreamland couldn't be simply sold off and redeveloped.
One way or another, there are enough snags to hold it up, and probaly the most important reason is that it's the home a significant listed building (The Scenic Railway) and several other structures. The combination of the listed structures and the protection of the integrity of the setting all gives the palce a fighting chance.

Glad to see you here.
