Water Bridge Plans

Not sure if this has been mentioned but apparently the coordinators have seen the plans that waterbridge have put forwards for the site (if it has been mentioned feel free to point and laugh).

Nick has mentioned in First Drop that it would include moving the Scenic and placing it on a pier going out to sea. Not sure whether they are able to tell us any more at this stage, but hopefully we will know more soon.

I realise that there are good reasons was to why they have to keep us in the dark about some things, but at the same time I want to write a few letters to some people concerning Dreamland (to make up for lost time while I was doing AS), but I don't want to write them just yet if there are likely to be any big revalations coming up. For example if they are building houses on the site there are lots of arguments against it such as the hose pipe ban Kent seems to be facing. But it would be pointless dwelling a lot on houses if their plans didn't include any.

As I understand it, there aren't any firm plans yet. Waterbridge are currently looking at various options for the site, and one that I have seen involved moving the Scenic onto a pier. I wouldn't take that as a firm proposal, though, until Waterbridge actually formally launch their plans.

Thanks for that Nick. So for the time being I will assume that whatever their plans are they won't be the sort that will bring people into the town, and wait for them to prove me wrong.

Moving the Scenic? I was under the impression that it could not possibly be moved. I read somewhere (pretty sure it was on here) that the wood would basically have to be sawn away from the coaster or something, meaning it would be rather distructive to the wood and it would not be able to be re-erected?

You are right, the Scenic can't be moved. It would need to be rebuilt from scratch as a copy.

Now let me think...

Take one unmovable listed structure, build a copy somewhere else, and what do you have... A listed structure and a likeness of it.

Is it just me or isn't the copy just a copy, devoid of history or significance?

Why don't they just make a copy of the plans they have and place that about 10 miles away in any direction they choose?

Do they really think that building what is essentially a brand new version of the Scenic elsewhere is going to please everyone? They must be more nuts then I thought!

They probably think it can be moved. Of the over 20 identical Scenic Railways built, only 2 survive, and the one at Dreamland is the only one in it's original location.

If they can spend the money to build a pier, or modify an existing pier to accomidate the Scenic Railway, they can restore Dreamland.
