Could be a good year for dreamland

with Mr brown increasing flight taxes the increase in interest rates and council taxes set to rise further this could be just what the British seaside needs
I read last week that more uk families are considering a seaside holiday in Britain for 2007
so with the global warming situation making the uk as warm as spain and mr brown making it less affordable for families to go to the costas it could be the seaside resorts make a comeback
less that 12 weeks to go till Dreamland opens it could be a bumper year once the immigrants are booted out of the Nayland rock etc
and the noise of family tourists once again fill the air in Margate

not sure about the bumper year part

margate is not very appealing to families at the moment,what with its baorded up shops and lack of facilities
with dreamlands future still in the balance (i wish they would just hand the park to philip miller) i cant see margate going forwards only backwards.
the longer the saga with dreamlands future drags on the less likely the council would be willing to invest in the town
the problem that dreamland faces at the moment is that even if a travelling fair is on the site,there is no advertisement of the fact its open,and with the company that own the site doing everything in its power to make life difficult for the operators,its going to be another hard year i expect.i hope this year dreamlands future will be sorted out once and for all

if philip miller does get the site (fingers crossed) and spends the millions he has promised,then and only then will margate start to be rebuilt,but until that day happens,dreamland will have the same problems year upon year.
to be honest not many families would come to margate at the moment for a travelling fair and a very run down town
its sad to see margate in the mess its in its hard to believe that only a few years ago margate was a thriving town
wake up thanet council if they cant see how much the town has gone downhill in the last few years,maybe they should look how many tourists are there in the summer and then maybe they will understand why tourists and families prefer southend to margate.
i do really hope dreamland is finally saved this year and returned to its former glory.heres to a good 2007 for dreamland and lets hope this IS the year dreamland is revived back to the good old days!

Yup, like I keep saying, it won't be cheap or easy, but it'll be well worth the investment.

I too can't see Margate having a very successful season. The tax on air travel is going to be very small, so probably of fairly limited significance. I don't think the powers want a successful season, and with the seafront and Dreamland being in the state it is even if more people do visit the seaside it will be places such as Southend and Brighton that will reap the benefits.
