The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

Great to know it's opening and I'm definately hoping to pop down for some rides on the Scenic. On paper the 2006 season sounds good, but I'm a still a little scepticle as since option 'c' was adotpted it's in their best interesst to ensure it isn't viable. It will be interessting to see how they advertise it. Marketing in the immdeiate locality it will have limited effect as around Margate the Park is already very high profile, especially with so much coverage in recent papers. If their marketing is to be worth while it needs to foucus on a wider catchment area than last year.

Hi Neil
Just to comment on the point that it is in their best intention to make dreamland not viable.
It doesnt take an intelligent person to realise that this will be happening.
The immediate point that first raised suspicion when i was reading the news section was how all the advertising is down to Kevin and nobody else, now why is this.
Now i met Kevin twice last year but i still never got to know him very well.
Considering that the Waterbridge company own the car park, I'm sure this isn't their only reason for buying a percentage of shares in the dreamland site.
Secondly what is all the excitement over the wheel adjust because they have included a picture in the advertisement, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be on the site this summer.

I am pleased to see that the Save Dreamland Campaign is enthusiastically backing our proposals for the Dreamland Leisure Park. It will provide some of the finest Leisure facilities in Kent. We will of cause be catering for the disabled and disadvantaged minority groups in particular. To compliment the Leisure facilities will be the Scenic Railway and children’s amusement facilities.
I am glad that you are behind our plans for bringing a high class Leisure Park to Margate.
We thank you for your past and continuing support for this venture

"Bob" - Can we urgently have the contact number for your nurse ... we need to get those drug dosages sorted ASAP.
No-one's backed your plans, it would be pretty hard to back them or disagree when no detailed plans have been publicly revealed.

We are pleased that the Save Dreamland Campaign is so enthusiastic about our plans for the Dreamland Leisure Park. A secure area is currently being fenced off to allow the fairground to safely operate whilst the rest of the site is being prepared for the Leisure Park. A considerable amount of planning has gone on to ensure the Leisure facilities are world class. The area set aside for the Fairground will be upgraded in the next couple of years. We look forward to your continued enthusiastic support as this venture moves forward.

Dear Bob,
Are there more than one of you? The grammatical style, and syntax of your postings suggest very different minds. The content is still hilarious and generally complete b******s but the delivevery varies.
3 questions.
1 What are the plans?
2 Why do you presume that anybody on this forum supports your overall plans, such as they are, when nobody knows what they are?
3 What have you been drinking? Can I please have some?
Yours in anticipation,
taffy

Bob don't you think for one minute that i am all for your pointless ideas that you try to attack dreamland with because i am not, neither is any one else on this forum.
Considering a large enough fence was installed last year this is ertainly not called for. It will be a disaster for dreamland in the future and you know it. It will simply prove that what ever will be left of dreamland in the future will prove not viable and bingo, you will develop the other side of the dreamland as well. All you have to do now is master the art of persuasion and and con us into your way of thinking.
Tell me Bob, does Godden pay you extra to persuade on this forum.

No one is trying to con anyone. The plans are for a modern Dreamland Leisure Park. It is intended that this facility will be for the benefit of the majority of the residents of Margate & Thanet and to visitors as well. We want to move away from only meeting the need of a niche market. TDC have intimated that there is a shortage of Leisure facilities in Margate and see the Dreamland site as a prime location for them. We are keen to work with the council to help them fulfil that vision. We are also keen to see that the needs of the Save Dreamland Campaign are meet as far as is practicable. I can assure you that the Scenic Railway will remain and other rides will also be provided. We look forward to the continued support of the Save Dreamland Campaign as we move forward on the redevelopment of the Dreamland site. Clearly during the development phase there will be the need for temporary fencing in the interest of safety. We look forward to seeing you when the Dreamland Leisure Park opens for business.

Firstly
You mentioned a the temporary fence is needed whilst development is carried out. What development. any development you were suggesting was going to be carried out was on the western side of the site.
You are wasting your time convincing me that the Scenic is going to remain because i no it is. What i want to know is why are you concerned of the safety of the eastern side of the park when it is already fenced off.
Instead of repeating yourself just ansaw my question, after all you haven't got anything that you are not telling us all have you

Slight point here - what development - and where is the planning approval for development of ANY nature?
Vince.

I can assure you that the Scenic Railway is remaining. It will play a key roll in the proposed Dreamland Leisure Park.
