So is everyone going to so called log on and say what we want? Or is it pointless since no one else even knows that Margate Town Centre Regeneration Company own dreamland?

I think it's worth logging on and saying what you want - and that you think the whole consultation is a bit of a con. In fact a complete and utter sham.

The company isn't a public body carrying out a genuine consultation, it has no wider remit than its own holding, it's a commercial company which owns the Dreamland site and that's all it can be consulting over. Dreamland, as Nick pointed out on the radio, isn't actually zoned as town centre by the local authority.

So say over and over what you want - Dreamland to remain a fun fair with the Scenic Railway at its heart.

What those carrying out this sham conultation want of course is for everyone to say that they want 'regeneration' and a 'vibrant' mixed use of housing, shops, bar/cafes - the usual 'regeneration' mantra. which benefits only the developers and is making all our towns and cities bland nowheresvilles.

These places are the 21st century's Arndale Centres. Arid and bland and not places you would want to go as a tourist.

Well, I filled in the 'text Margate' stuff.

I said that I thought the consultation a sham, that it doesn't mention Dreamland, which is the only part of Margate the developers own, that Dreamland and its listed Scenic Railway and curtilage buildings should remain as part of a funfair.

I thought the sham consultation on the supposed future of Margate should be ended now.

I got a reply saying I had been entered into the prize draw, and the terms and conditions mean that should I win I may be required to take part in publicity...


I also note on the text Margate site that it says they will be in touch with me very soon to listen to my ideas.

I so look forward to that...
