Even if people have evidence that prooves Godden is responsible for any fires in Thanet or that he is in some way responsible for the state of Thanet today that doesn't give anyone any right whatsoever to attack him or his family, especially his family.

In part at the very least he spent money running fun parks and places that we all enjoyed, if he hadn't who would have taken that role is one thing to think about. Not that I am defending any actions of his as I have no evidence on the subject and don't want to speculate.

There are certainly many factors involved in the state of Thanet at the moment and no amount of arson threats whether they are made jokingly or otherwise is going to help the situation. Not to mention the hipocracy of condoning actions of arson.

As to the BBC saying it will be operational within a year I agree with EAS.

I feel sick

Postby Tony P » 12 Apr 2008, 12:19

I have just checked the site as I have not been logged on for the last couple of weeks.

I cannot believe (well can in some ways) what has happened. The Police MUST carryout a full investigation and the Scenic MUST be rebuilt.

After all the work and positive actions that took place late last year and the items that we have safely (I hope) stored away for the heritage park. Those responsible for this dreadful act need to be locked away for a VERY LONG TIME.

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE - YOU WILL BE FOUND - AND CAUGHT!! :x

These are terribly sad times of course, but even so there is one of these macabre but topical text message jokes already doing the rounds locally about the fire.

If you want to receive it, PM me a mobile phone number in the next two or three hours and I'll forward it, after which I'll be away for a fortnight.

If you like it , forward it, if you don't like it then don't come moaning to me.

There are quite a few videos on youtube of the fire. This one is about the best:

Hi all,

Just in case anyone's missed it, Meridian Tonight's News programme has just announced a similar statement to the BBC's, saying that the Scenic Railway could be open again for business as early as next Easter.

Great news if all goes to plan.

Yes but - what they say and what happens are not always the same thing.

Can we be realistic though? I wouldn't believe every news report. Last week's news reports had the Scenic razed to the ground.

Council officers said: “It is considered reasonable to expect that the ride might be repaired and operational by Easter 2009”.

Next Easter is a very short space of time away to get repairs done and the Scenic running. It may be possible to run it as a stand alone attraction, but as far as a full amusement park...

It will very much depend on so many imponderables. To which at this time there are few certainties.

Insurers, funding, plans, Listed Building Consents, consultations, whether or not the council in the end has to carry the repairs notice to the ultimate...
