Work has started on Big Dipper and track has started being removed to make way for the <cough>new<cough> ride (Traumatizer from Blackpool in case you weren't aware).

It's doubtful this is permanent, but there is an outside chance of the Big Dipper having its layout altered when it goes back up again.

I rode the Dipper Tuesday... but yes it's all a mess around it.

I took pictures.

This is one of the country's most historic rides - the first undertrack.

It's very worrying.

I gather more dismantling has happened, and that maybe changes are planned... very, very worrying indeed.

Is it not a listed structure?

if so than unless an aplication has been submitted and granted than no cgahge to the layout or removal of the ride can take place

No, no coaster is listed except the Scenic Railway.

The braking system has been removed and the trains have vanished.

The trains could have been sent away for restoration, the breaking system could have been removed for overhaul, as for the track being removed it cold be so the Tizer can be re-errected in its new home the heavy lifting machineary will need room to manover

Bunkum. Pointless speculation and groundless rumour-mongering. The Ig Dipper will be back as normal at the start of 2007, with the only difference a possible tunnel over the affected turn. At worst there may be a slight re-route for the turn, although unlikely at this stage. The reason ? Simply due to foundation digging for Traumatizer.
The only possible long term changes for the Ig Dipper are a new braking system and changes in restraints, which is soley due to H&S / insurance pressures.
Ig Dipper has had constant rebuilds, changes in layout etc. in its eighty years. That's part and parcel of having a wooden ride, next to the sea, in a constantly evolving amusement park. What do you want to do ? Take it home and give it a cuddle ?

I assumed it was merely a typographical error, but you have referred to it three times as Ig. Is this a local nickname for it?

Just wondered...seems odd that you appear to be speaking from an informed viewpoint (one which I agree with for what it's worth) yet you have been unable to get its name correct.

I think we all know who that is - quite why though he feels he needs to post that I have no idea.

Some of us maybe have wider ideas and more vision about things though, which I'm not prepared to go into here.

The main sign on the Big Dipper, following construction of 'Ocean Boulevard' was hidden from the promenade viewpoint. When the 'B' fell off (in the nineties) BPB didn't replace it, as it would have been too expensive! Hence, the name Ig Dipper, which is the name fondly given by many. With a 'new' coaster now being built, it will be interesting to see if they replace the B...

If you look carefully, I have been a member of this site for a good while. I usually lurk. Your abrasive, holier-than-thou, I'm-right-and-you-are-all-wrong attitude it what has roused me from my slumber. And not only on this site, may I add; you certainly are making a name for yourself and it's certainly not all positive. It can't be doing your reputation any favours.
Start getting some facts right and I may pay your views some attention. The sad thing is I actually agree with many of your wider views!

Why not put your views to those have the deepest interest? Come to the place where your views will be properly debated by those really in the know. Join the Club Pleasure Beach (ex-235 Club) forum and air your views.

I don't actually care if you agree with me or not, you can argue amongst yourself. Or back to the BPB forum, with the infants.

The latest info I have is that there will be a track alteration to accommodate Traumatizer, which I don't like at all. I think that it's a lousy way to treat a historic ride.

In the Save Dreamland Campaign people are equals. We cast judgement upon what people say, not who says it. Whatever someone's social class, occupation of position 'do you know who I am?' type comments are not the object of the campaign. We are not sheeple who follow the person with the most prestige, but able to think for ourselves. You comments will be no more welcome if we know who you are.

People on here are fighting for what they believe is right, not to make themselves reputations. Reputation spinning is what has caused so many of the problems we know want to fight against.

Rather an excitable lot there - it's all those extreme rides I think.
