Just to let you all know that the Margate Civic Society is hosting a talk on 'Dreamland, Past and Present' by Mick Tomlinson, Thursday 7 December, 7.30pm at the Walpole Bay Hotel, Fifth Avenue, Cliftonville.

The talks usually last around an hour and cost £1 if any local members would like to come along.

That sounds pretty interesting - especially as there have been some calls to become more "Dreamland" focused again (although I always like to keep up with the park industry scene elsewhere any time as, like has been mentioned elsewhere, I think we can always glean something from external situations).

I'll try to make it up after my current supplementary cleaning job! - yes times are rather tough at present.

The event occurs on what would have been my late Nan's birthday anyhow, so it can't be all that bad. Plus, I've never been inside this venue to my knowledge.

Hope to see a few familiar faces.

Martin

PS I hate watching those Southport Cyclone massacre images on their local websites. I think it's time to support places like Camelot next year, what with their new adventurous coaster for 2007. I reckon they really need every visitor, and unlike another place I could mention, might really appreciate them.

Sadly, I won't be there but I bet it will be great nevertheless!

Anyone who can go, should go, and wear a Save Dreamland shirt.

Hear hear Jim! - maybe I should buy this season's model though (shirt that is). The way the climate's been over here of late it is almost still Summer shirt weather anyway. (Global warming anyone??)

I'm sure you'd be at this meeting Jim if it was just "round the block".

You're in for a treat Martin, the Walpole Bay Hotel is as much a museum as a hotel. http://www.walpolebayhotel.co.uk/

Unfortunately I won't be there. I don't know yet where I will be on thursday, the only guarantee is that it won't be within a hundred miles of Thanet. :( :( :(

Would there be any chance of someone video-recording the talk and uploading it onto YouTube?

You bet I would. I'd be all over it.
I just wish there was more I could do on my end.
