Can someone explain to me why, all of a sudden, Amusement parks are considered to be a thing of the past?

Now, if you want to talk past..

Tesco was founded by Jack Cohen, who served with the Royal Air Force during the First World War. After returning in 1919, 21 year old Jack invested 30 pounds of his reward for military service to buy surplus food stockpiles and he opened a little stall in East London.

Personally, I am looking forward thank you very much....

....to Dreamland being saved.

This needs to be kept on people's minds.
Dreamland can be something for everyone. There's enough space for greenery, amusements, and eateries. Fix up the ugly facades of the shops on the seafront, and you have something to be proud of.

It's gonna take time and money, but shopping and houses are NOT going to bide well for the future. It just eventually ads to the blight.

Attracting visitors in for the day creates the need for products and services and puts people back to work. It creates jobs in the town to support people visiting and spending time and money. Fringe business that spring up also give locals something to do (besides giving them jobs).

But it can't be done half-assed. There needs to be a comprehensive plan to unify the look of the seafront and shops and really make it attractive.

In fact it's hard to see why Milton Keynes gets a say over the seaside. OK, they did say there would be a mixture on the comittee, but if you look at the sort of town (city?) Milton Keynes is there does seem to be an agenda there. It's very spread out with little public transport, because the place was built a lot on the assumption of heavy car use. One of the main reasons it was created was to satisfy government plans for more housing and their big boast is lots of out of the mould chain shops. Hopefully Margate won't end up like Milton Keynes. Did they by any chance have a reprensentative from the constituencys with Gatwick and Heathrow? It wouldn't surprise me.

As Gary says amusement parks certainly aren't a thing of the past. The new Eco park won't be a million miles from Milton Keynes.
