work should be starting soon if the scenic is to be operational next season
following last years catalogue of closures due to cars coming off rails
first drop being unstabe etc
looks like the money needs to be spent now to get it working and tested
only 9 weeks till the new season
at this stage I would assume that a new operator had been appointed for 2007 anf that the publicity machine had been cranked up ready to pull in the punters
From here it looks very much the same as last year
too little too late
If it was my company wanting to make a go of the park I would have been working constantly throughout the winter trying to put right the cockups of the last 2 years and promote 2007
come on give the park to mr Miller you know it makes sense

is anyone actually running the park this year.far as i know no-one has even taken the park on for this season
mind you if you was an operator would you run a park after the nightmare of last year with all the diversions and tactics to purposely lose trade
i think this year will be worse than last year in my personal opinion
until dreamlands future is sorted out once and for all,this is the way it will stay
the longer this drags on the worse margate will lose out

maybe nick could enlighten us on any info on a operator for this year if any (i dont an operator has been found yet)

I am afraid that I don't have any information on an operator for 2007 yet.

Philip Miller is still interested in buying the park. Unfortunately there is little he can do at the moment as he can't force the owners to sell the park at its market value as an amusement park. Sadly, the Council did not follow through with their offer of a meeting. I am still in touch with Philip on a regular basis.

The owners of the park propose a public forum later this year, which we will get involved in. We are in regular correspondence with MTCRC/Waterbridge and we will let you know as soon as we have a date for this. We will also continue our dialogue with the Council and other organisations involved in the regeneration of Margate - we will be exploring every possible way of bringing a permanent amusement park to Dreamland. More on this soon.

He's right, but just having it operational is buying time, hopefully.

Yup. The year the park fails to open will be the year it's toast.

If someone could just get some pavement torn up and some grass and a few trees in... Would make a world of difference visually.

unfortunately the majority of clientelle Dreamland has had over the last few years would probably steal the trees and smoke the grass
It would not be a bad thing to be closed for a season as perhaps a permanent owner could be put in place and the scenic run on a franchise?
many in this forum and others were not happy about travelling rides being in the park and voiced their opinions here and in the press
The showmens grapevine is a powerful one and many will not go where they are not wanted especially after comments saying it is like a carpark funfair well Rome was not built in a day and with these "car park" rides on site at least we could say in all honesty Dreamland was open
I just hope that someone has the guts and money to try again this year

I would love to see a more business-friendly setting for any potential park operators for this upcoming season. By the way, I hope I've never said anything too adverse regarding the "fairground" rides that have been on offer over the last few difficult seasons. I for one would rather see something else in place to complement the Scenic in the interim period, not ruling out the valued showmen's efforts of recent years.

Obviously I think we all want to see a new permanent operator installed in the not too distant future so Margate can reclaim its former traditional tourism image. As soon as this can be decided the better I reckon. Then the park can be probably closed for about twelve months to enable it to be totally transformed into a modern 21st century facility (with the Scenic at its heart of course).

Fingers crossed for the coming season and best of luck to the party (or parties) who take it on.

I know its a crazy idea, but its only about £400K! The campaign could go on that Fortune program and ask for a bit of money.

Would be nice, but trust me you are probably looking at a total somewhere over the £500,000+ total to buy it transport it and re-build it

Southend's new Typhoon is up and under going testinf I am currently out of action having had a spinal tumour removed, I will try and get some photos after the stitches come out next week.
