Hi All,
Why is it that Dreamland can only open for three mouths of the year? We were at Southend Feb 13 with the rides operating and lots of people there at Adventure island.

The new coster ride was going well too, its going to be a good year for the park.(did not go on, may next time )

The only down side to the park is the crooked house is not good, inside at the first window the man should be picking up a cup but cup now on the floor (its been there a number of years) also the window with the man shaving, the mirror has drop to the floor.

All in all this is a good park only let down by this.

Brighton is another that is open all year round. We visited just before Christmas and had an excellent time. They really know how to treat you well there and do great food.

Dreamland open 3 months of the year.

Me and my family visted Adventure Island on monday , not many about due to bad weather me and the wife had a ride on Rage
very clean and well run park, all the staff were very poilet
apart from the rain we all had a great day out

Southend has become the Margate of the new millenium(can never spell that) Mr Miller has done a fantastic job and has invested heavily and now attracts the crowds that once attended Dreamland
I can see peoples dissapointment in what Dreamland offered the last 2 years but ........It wasnt Dreamland ....It was sublet to travelling companies in order that Margate did at least have something amusement orientated open on the Dreamland site
The posts on many web forums ridiculed the offerings and hence it will be very difficult to find another company to open on the site apart from a few weeks in the summer
Once a park like Dreamland has closed it takes millions of pounds of investment to provide the rides that many are talking about here
and who in their right mind will invest without mega bucks being spent on marketing Margate again as a resort?
Margate has wonderful beaches and fantastic potential to rise again
It is a shame that perhaps due to some of our posts and posts in other forums regarding a travelling fair in a carpark situation etc that it has put off showmen attending the town to keep the park open
and perhaps we ourselves have played into waterbridges hands by criticising showmens efforts and hence the potential of NOTHING attending Dreamland this summer would be a feather in waterbridges cap
and ammunition to redevelop
Any Dreamland Is Better than NO Dreamland
And for the last 2 years at least the site was open
as for this year, well many of us have to look hard and deep to see if it was actually ourselves that finally closed the park by negative posts

Adventure Island is doing very well for itself, it is in a similarly difficult position to get to, but I personally think it is worth the journey and brings a lot to the town. Long may it continue.

Adventure Island is not that hard to get to,

There are two railway lines C2C (Fenchurch Street Line) and First (Liverpool Street Line) there is the A127 Southend Artieral Road and the A130. You can even fly into the airport in your own aircraft.

I was comparing it with the relative ease of getting to Thorpe, ie just off the M25.

I live about six miles from Adventure island but if i want to go by train its going to take about 3 or more hours as i live in Kent


Thats why we need Dreamland open, Kent is now lacking a Theme park.

It'll be interesting on how Thorpe does this year, it opened last weekend and is slated to stay open right through untill January, 11 months opening, Tussauds must think there is a market!

The site has change the opening hours until the 4th November. Which is a bit of a shame. I guess the expense of opening a park the size of Thorpe is a lot greater than Adventure Island.

I notice the heading on the site says the season ends Friday November 30th but it's closed for almost all of the month on the calendar!
Over on the Chessington site it now says that not only the zoo but the park is open through to January now so maybe Tussauds are planning the Christmas Cracker again.
I hope it happens it would be nice to see a major UK park open for most of the year.
