Looking at this weeks worlds fair newspaper it looks like Margate has to put up with travelling rides again for the big weekend in June

Ground to let for 10 large machines at palm bay plus anything else in the business It will be interesting to see what attends after reading that margate does not want travelling rides
normally the machine positions automatically are re let the following year to the same people it is very unusual that ALL 10 machine positions are to let for the same event as the guild members have established rights or perhaps no one took any money last year
or perhaps showmen realise that Margate is having a few problems one way or another and prefer to open .

Is this not for the event being held instead of the airshow?

It will be back next year with longer flying times and possibly an extra day or two

Promises, promises....

Spoke to a pilot who took part in both shows he said that they have been approched all ready for two days flying next year with a third as a possible.

I don't think it's a case of Margate "not wanting travelling rides".

Travelling rides are fine for what they do- setting up temporarily for a short period before moving on. They are generally smaller and far more modest in design than a modern permanent ride and naturally they lack the big-bang appeal of the type of ride that would be on the site if some degree of permanence was offered to the operator.

We will look forward to visiting the rides when they arrive in Margate, but a travelling fair is an ephemeral attraction and not the long-term solution to the needs of Dreamland park.

Strange things are happening,

I have it on very reliable information that there will be at the very least a mini airshow this year.

and a number of other RAF aircraft and civilian have been booked for the weekend of 16th & 17th June

Not quite the subject, but Vince has touched on an important key that needs to be kept public, and that's the long term goal is not to maintain Dreamland as is, but to maintain it as is until it can be fully reworked into something special.
