There is no date set for work to begin on rebuilding the Scenic Railway. As far as I am aware, the notice requires that the ride should be rebuilt to the same condition it was in when in was listed in 2002. Where trains can be obtained to operate on the ride has been looked into but no decisions have been made as yet. The rebuilding of the ride to get it operational again is down to the owners MTCRC. If they choose not to start repair work on the ride then Thanet council are able to serve the Repairs Notice to have the ride rebuilt and recover the cost from the site owners as they have recently done with the Urgent Works Notice and the erection of the security fence. This would be down to the local authority to decide if the notice should be served and when.

What are the options for new trains for the Scenic are there trains in use /not in use that could be used on the Scenic. If the trains have to be built from scratch is there any of the running gear that could be saved from the burnt trains.I never managed to get a look in the train shed so i am not sure of the construction of the running gear and just how much of it is steel.
I was offered a guided tour by a guy called Howard in the early eighties who was a ride operator but never got around to it.I guess i never thought that Dreamland would look like it does now.

There are many options available regarding trains for the Scenic. There are similar trains in operation elsewhere that are the same gauge that could operate. At the end of the day it is up to the sites owners as to what they do about trains for the Scenic which is why im not saying much about trains that could be used from other parks, its not our decision to make, but if the owners wanted assistance in finding suitable trains we would of course work with them.

hi dave its chris , can you see yourself being scenic railway brakeman again in years to come? is there any way how you can be again? what will you have to do to make sure this happens ?

I guess that really depends on who takes on the running of any park in the future at Dreamland. I cannot do anything to make sure I work on the ride again but I would happily work with or alongside any future operators if needed. Time will tell I guess.

the main question im worrying about is has the remaining structure been secured to stop more parts falling down if we get severe storms in the winter

I haven't visited this board in a few months. Yesterday I came here because I was reminiscing about our holidays in Thanet, and the pictures of the burnt down Scenic brought tears to my eyes. Having followed the board for a few years, I guess the worst fear of many of the members here has come true. :(

I hope the scenic can be rebuilt! Thanks for keeping us updated about the progress.

Because I'm away a lot I don't get to keep up with local news, and when I do read it, I'm never quite sure how to to interpret it, so forgive me if I ask a question, the answer to which may be blindingly obvious...

Who owns the Scenic Railway at the moment?

Hi , I am not aware that the Scenic or the land has been handed over to the trust yet. All Be it I think it is going to be?

The land and the Scenic Railway is currently owned by Margate Town Centre Regeneration Company (MTCRC).

Hi guys. I've been following your campaign for a while now, and would like to congratulate you on all the effort so far. I was devastated when I saw the fire that destroyed the original Scenic Railway, and am just posting to offer any help.

Basically, I live in Melbourne where there is a functioning Scenic Railway at Luna Park that has been in operation since 1912. If you would like me to ever contact them for information, or even to go and take some photographs, I will most happily try and see what I can do for you.

I might be a long way away, but I want to see Dreamland back up and operating again. :)
