My husband Gez, proposed to me right at the top of the big wheel. That was way back in August 1989.

We were staying at the Burlington on Buenos Ayres, which is still open. The next day we went to Cuttings Jewellers in the old town and bought my engagement and wedding ring.

Not just a 'love' link with Dreamland but with Margate as well! Been coming back every year since, now with our two girls. Even my parents now have a holiday flat here for the past 6 years. They first fell in love with Margate and Dreamland in 1963!

Hi

Is nice to hear but if it was now assuming he could have found some where romantic to propose to you, you would have struggled to find a shop to buy the ring

Hi Cliff, surprisingly, Cuttings Jewellers is still open in the old town. A lovely old fashioned place worth a visit. Even more surprising is that the hotel we were staying in at the time is also still open!

Now if we could get the big wheel back...

Hi

There must be one somewhere that could be bought for the heratage park then on opening day you could be the 1st riders on it and you could re-enact the romantic moment.

Be sure to run a spell check before you write her any love letters.

i like the idea of getting married at dreamland as ive herd there has been a wedding at alton towers in the past , get married on the scenic railway station then at the back of the scenic train have a sign saying just married, have the park to yourself as a wedding party just for you and your guests and not open to any other members of the public
