No fairground on the Dreamland site in 2009(?)

According to Michael Child's blog the idea he put forward to Sandy Ezekial regarding a fairground on the Dreamland site in 2009 was dismissed swiftly by Waterbridge and/or Jimmy Godden.

Whilst the fairs in the past haven't always run as hoped, and in some cases may have had conditions placed on them that would make running them successfully difficult it would still have been nice for Margate to get something for visitors to do

This is rather sad, although I am sure most of us here would really love to see some positive work being done to actually transform the site this Summer. Hopefully, something more permanent will once again be on show again by 2010. We can only hope.

I feel that the current financial climate could actually present some, perhaps rather attractive, opportunities as companies will be very keen to attract business for their wares. (On a slightly off-topic issue, I can't help but notice several new small businesses, like hairdressers, springing up all across Maidstone at present. They are also very well kitted out, which I reckon supports my last statement).

I love coming to Margate in the Summer for a day out. Typically I'd come to Margate (from Surrey) a couple of times in a Summer usually on a Sunday, when the weather is really good.

Unfortunately I didn't bother bringing my family at all in 2008 as the scenic wasn't going, and whilst the beach is lovely, and we would still have had our usual haunts to go to (a nice cafe up the hill, the old fashioned sweet shop and the arcade), not having the amusement park open is like having a fairy cake without the icing on it.

I don't reckon I'm the only person like this - dreamland, or the lesser amusement ark on the site in recent years was an integral part of the 'draw' of a day out at Margate, and unfortunately, if it's not there, I'll end up choosing a day at Hastings or Brighton instead.

I really hope Margate gets it all sorted as soon as is possible, it really deserves to be high up in the summer day out stakes.

maybe nick laister might know what will be happening by 2010 , im hoping somthing possotive will be happening this year in order for the park to open in 2010 , if not we are looking at 2011 and im not looking foward to having to wait another 2 years for it to be open but in the long run it will be worth the wait , it can get very frustrating for me
