I filmed it too towards the last days of that season they fired the origonal operators 2004???

Then I got talking with one of them and went into the sheds, asking questions constantly! they probably thought I was some reporter or something!

Now I think of it, I'm sure they said if a fire was started in the shed, it would do the most damage!!!

Several years out but still very accurate!

2002 was when the boys started riding the Scenic Railway, they were four years old, we used to go there every Saturday and ride six or seven times, we clocked up well over a hundred rides each that season.

Dave Collard (Dave771 on the forum) used to run it then but then some people came along who weren't very nice so we didn't go on it much after that.

I can't drive past it any more. It just does me in!

thanks for posting that,it is a really great ride!!
the scenic railway is something for margate to be proud of and i can't believe the council seemed so reluctant to step in and save it(especially at first)
also watching the video dreamland looked like a first rate funfair with some good rides,a really good place to spend the day.
people would be much more eager to visit margate if dreamland was up and running, especially in the current economic climate with the strong euro putting people off going abroad as much..
so come on margate council wake up a bit and give visitors something to flock to the town for,the quicker the better!!

Jurst because I feel I ought to (yet again):

The council hasn't the legal ability to step in and 'save' private property unless it is a listed building severely at risk, and up until the fire the Scenic wasn't; even then, the legal process is complex and uncertain. Dreamland is, of course, private property.

Thanet Council is one of the parties involved in the Heritage Amusement Park proposals. I have no doubt all is happening as quickly as possible to try to gain the funding for that to happen.
