What can I say about The River Caves Southport?

The 8 minute ride took you away from the in your face sensation overload that was Southport Pleasureland of old and allowed you to get your breath back on a wonderful boat ride.

I often wondered how they fitted the long ride inside the area.

What original rides are left at the fair now ? The Thompson's destroyed the cyclone and took away the traumatizer. The river caves and the hall of mirrors are now burnt down...

Well, Traumatizer wasn't really an 'original' ride, depends what is meant by 'original', and hopefully the 'Hall of Mirrors' isn't burnt down? River Caves final demise is sad, but it was just a shell (full of asbestos, or I think it would have been bulldozed by now too).

I was there for the Cyclone. Don't let anyone minimalize the effort that was made to save it. They speak out of ignorance.
There were plenty of people, but yes, unfortunately, you live in a country where unless something is 200+ years old, people don't see the historical value in it.

Too bad people seem to turn to vandalism and arson so often.

It's not true, many, many buildings and structures of much later are listed, or are in conservation areas, it's just Cyclone's demolition was well underway before anyone really appreciated what was happening.
