Have popped into Margate a couple of times ths weekend and the place is heaving with daytrippers - a lot from London, coming by car or train....there has been a constant stream of cars coming through Birchington - where i live and on route to Margate.
They are coming down for the beautiful beach no doubt, but the are walking round the seafront, harbour and into the town.
Also I have noticed that alot of the once empty shops at the bottom of the high street are now occupied - so thats all good.
A few people have set up stalls selling the usual holiday stuff outside the boarded up shops on the seafront ad seem to be doing a good trade... just think what it will be like in a couple of years when Dreamland is up and running....
Hope some of these people are reaching you at the Shell Grotto, Sarah. x

I got the bike out this afternoon and rode from Whitstable to Birchington. Plenty of people late in the afternoon at Minnis Bay and it was standing room only on the train home. See, Thanet can be popular and look forward ot more with Dreamland up and running in a year or two!

Yep, we had a very busy weekend Lou. Reports of Margate's demise are premature!
