Cue weeping. Chas & Dave Split

The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

Cue weeping. Chas & Dave Split

I'm justifying the posting of this here because every time we ask for song requests for any Dreamland event everyone's favourite rockney duo come out on top by a very long way.

News of the split announced today:

How the Telegraph has the front to compare them Oasis I don't know. I know who I'd rather share a pint with.

Reminds me of seeing them at the Winter Gardens more years ago than I care to remember. Happy days.

1st post by the way! Hello everyone.

Dunno if anyone on these boards remember the early 80s' Top 40 singles' chart?

..It was full of "segued" hit singles like "Stars on 45" "Classics on 45" Abba on "45" etc etc....

Chas 'n' Dave brought out "Stars over 45" :)

I know..I know..you had to be there but it was funny at the time.
Please pass through the turnstiles if you are riding again.

I couldn't possibly admit to it being that long ago when I saw them but they have been since.

I had tickets to see them again but a family crisis prevented us traveling to Margate and the tickets had to be returned

Sad news indeed, however I feel that we might be able to persuade them to reform, albeit on a temporary basis, to help us relaunch the new Dreamland Park in a couple of years or so (hopefully!)

I was personally never a huge fan of the duo but felt their "Margate" tune was synominous with the resort, especially after the Only Fools and Horses TV outing.
