Maybe the sentiment was covered in the xmas post a week or so ago.

I personally consider this particular forum a bit more serious than everyone posting on 'me too' threads.

Given that there has been great progress made in the last month, but there is still some more work to do.

Maybe many members feel the same as me?

Vince.

Grammar lesson!
Would of? No, no, no.
Would HAVE (would've).

Happy 2010 to everyone. I sincerely hope 2010 is the year Dreamland's rebirth is born. I can't wait to meet you all.

Well said Jim about grammar. Let's make it our new year resolution to improve spelling and grammar on here in 2010. A small thing to some people perhaps, but if we want the campaign to continue to be taken seriously it's very important that use of English - a language people all around the world want to learn - on this website is of a high standard. People who use 'would of' instead of 'would have' deserve to have their bottoms kicked rather hard! You know who you are.

We can forgive the occasional tryping mistrake of course - and I'm a regular offneder - but let's all please try to do better on this issue in 2010.

Thank you. Rant over.

Frankly, as long as I understand a post I don't give a damn if it contains perceived 'mistakes'. English is an evolving language, and there ain't any laws to say what's 'correct' and what ain't.

But happy 2010 to all, let's hope that the Dreamland project moves on rapidly, so much has been achieved so far, it's all looking so much brighter!

On topic : Happy New Year!

Slightly off topic :
I don't think this forum is too bad in terms of the content of posts - we have at least kept text speak off them and don't have many "yeah, me too... lolz" style posts.

I have a tendency to go through the topic titles and correct their spelling and punctuation from time to time so that the main forum page looks neater. Editing posts themselves is a bit trickier as people can believe they have been misrepresented so I leave those well alone.

Whilst it would be great if everyone's posts were in 100% correct English I doubt we'll ever achieve that. I think it's a case of having to accept that most people are doing their best with their posts.

Probably as there is no such thing, really, as 100 per cent 'correct' English. Personally, as long as I can understand what people post, then that's OK by me.

Chaucer, Shakespeare, Austen... none of 'em wrote in what some would now deem 'correct' English...

I think that all this about grammar has gone a bit far! For those of us that know Jim Douglas Jnr in the states it was meant as a bit of a laugh and a joke, hence my reply to one of his posts on another topic ! Lets not all get too excited and have to have the last say on whats right or wrong !
