The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

If you have free time over the weekend of 26 and 27 June, Preston near Wingham (not the one in Lancashire!) is holding its annual steam fair once more. It's my guess- and only that - that Billie, the former Dreamland miniature railway steam engine, will be on show there somewhere once more. Always an event worth supporting, there's the added bonus of being able to obtain copies of Dreamland Remembered at a very special price from my bookstall. Do come and say hello!

Going to miss it this year for the first time in many years as I will be in South Africa, but hope the weather holds, it's normally a great weekend, I'll be there next year, hopefully someone will post some pics somewhere...

I have to support Claire - my last appearance at Preston for Dreamland was a very soggy affair, the pics are still on this site somewhere, having said that it is a great day out and plenty to entertain a family

Hi all
Just wondered if anyone was attending this event on Saturday. Also, anyone know of any ticket deals? - I haven't even looked into prices yet
(I know we got a discount a few years back now when we were in attendance there with the SDC tent!)
Best regards
Martin
PS I didn't realise that last weekend was Margate's Big Event (I've just recently got back from the US and hadn't quite got back "in gear"; I thought the event was normally in May but I could be completely wrong) I could've got there late Saturday night for the fireworks but decided against it
