Margate Museum?

Another slightly off-topic thread - but Dreamland, as an integral part of Margate, is certainly involved! Does anyone know what's happening with regard to the Margate Museum? Since it's been closed for a long time and just left, surely the collection will be deteriorating slowly but surely....... I remember it being a brilliant little museum - and it would be a big draw nowadays, given the right publicity. Why on earth don't they open it, in the summer months at least?

Yes, Jo - would be the sensible thing to do - but I think that all these important things to us are not important to them.......it seems to be that those with the power have the 'close them all down and build flats' mentality.
And obviously these things cost money!!! However, I am sure everyone would pay an entrance fee to have a little look and keep it and many other priceless gems going!!!
They keep on about tourists, but it just not add up does it.

I do know that Suzanne, who used to work in the museum, is now working with the Dreamland Trust as part time (forgive me if that is incorrect) archivist. Her knowledge of where stuff actually is in the building is proving vital in the task.

I would like to see the museum open again in one form or another. Who knows, in times to come, that material could be housed at the reborn Dreamland?

I don't see the future of the museum as being off topic Jo, I think what it has to offer sits well with the new Dreamland philosophy.
