Dreamland Entrance, Advertising, Future and Logo...

Postby Chris-46 » 28 Aug 2010, 14:57

I know these are 4 completely different topics but I'm doing this on my mobile and it will take ages to post them separately.
Hi, I'm Chris and I visited my family who own a nursing home right next to dreamland (literally 2 minute walk) every summer when I was a kid. I'm so happy that the park is reopening and have told literally everyone I know about the 2012 reopening, but I'm wondering about a couple of things...

1) How will the reopening be advertised? Seaside parks are having a really bad time and advertising is incredibly important.

2) Having the entrance through the plaza is a great idea but you're going to make it look incredible, right?

3) Will there be a new park logo?

4) Will there be extra space for future rides after the park opens? What kind of developments will occur in the mid and long term future of the park?
Someone will probably reply "lets just worry about building the park first" but thinking about the future is important as well.

Ok I'm done! :D

1) There will be a big fanfare when the park reopens, but we have not started looking at marketing yet as we still have some major hurdles to cross.

2) We are developing some really exciting plans for the entrance through the Dreamland building. Our ideas have changed substantially over the last few weeks and I think it is going to be a really amazing experience. Much better than it used to be, that's for sure.

3) Almost certainly there will be a new logo, but as with marketing, we haven't got there yet.

4) We will not be able to develop the entire park in a single phase, so the park will gradually expand over its first few years. We are also designing it such that new rides can be added and certain rides could if necessary be removed (temporarily or permanently) if something more interesting or exciting comes along. We are around the same size as Adenture Island and Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach and they manage to install new rides on a regular basis. We intend to keep the park fresh so there are new reasons to return.

I certainly would not say that we shouldn't be thinking abot the future. Quite the contrary, something we have been impressing upon the design team is the need to ensure that the park is designed with the future in mind. There would be nothing worse than designing for Phase 1 only to find that future phases are compromised.
