When will work be starting on the Dreamland site?

Patience my young Jedi I think there is still a load to do before vertical construction starts.

I'm sure Nick will fully update us as well before the park is anywhere near the construction stage

Thanks for that Xtreme. We are all keen for work to begin but as the land transfer is not complete as yet, no work can start until then. When Nick reports that the land has been transferred then im sure we will have a clearer idea on when work will start.

Well, we are patient, but seven years is a long time to wait so far so it is a fair question.

The irony is that the property market has now collapsed and Dreamland could have made a lot of money in that time. Mr Godden made his fortune from seaside amusements and has been busy throwing it away ever since he decided to become a property developer instead.

Please can we stop making comments that have nothing to back them up. People speculating on what the site owners are going to do or when doesn't help the project to move ahead at all. We would all like to see the park being worked but its not happening at the moment. When things have happened it will be on the news page.

If this continues I will just delete the whole thread instead of editing / deleting posts.

Whilst nothing is happening cash will be going out but no revenues will be coming in as wel as inflatation pushing up costs , so rightly people are questioning why nothing is hapening and no plans have been published and no timescales announced

After reading about the effect the Government cuts are likely to have in the communities (which have been earmarked for the largest grant reductions, including Sea Change) I just wonder if the hopes of Dreamland's re-birth have just died.

The harsh reality is noything is happening. Money is going out on staff & consultants and buying rides. No revenues are comiing in and are not likely to do so any time soon. Inflation is also eating into the cash.
The scheme will as most of these publicly funded schemes do is to simply run out of money before it even gets started

18 months down the road theres is no real project plan. No timescales & no start date. In the current economic conditions there is unlikely to be any more funding and it is also likely the current funding will be reduced or withdrawn as a part of the budget cuts as there is unlikely to ever be a retun on the investment

Yes, Bubbles, previously you said the whole thing was going down the tubes, but in fact, cash and grants ARE coming in, rides ARE being secured, and maybe later rather than sooner, but Dreamland IS coming back.
