It says on the new website at http://www.dreamlandmargate.com/ that the Trust are looking for volunteers prepared to help out to get Dreamland re-opened.

I live locally so I could lend a hand, I wonder if anyone else has looked at this?

I would LOVE to come lend a hand if I weren't on the other side of the planet.

I know, I'm sure we all do, nobody could say that you haven't done far more than your fair share already.

I've done a bit but to be perfectly honest I have always been better working with wood and machinery than writing letters or attending meetings. And I'm happy to do that if it helps to get Dreamland open, most Heretige railways in the UK work on a largely voluntary basis and I think this would be a better model for Dreamland than if it was a purely commercial operation.

Yep, I would love to help as well, probably better with a paintbrush, than the formal stuff.....

Thank you for your words. If nothing else, my threatening to go to the media and opening my own investigation a few years ago seemed to do the trick in convincing the council to see things our way.
I would indeed have made it my business to find out who was going to benefit from the redevelopment of Dreamland.
I had my housing in Ramsgate and stuff already lined up. They would NOT have liked the attention I was going to bring.

I emailed Dreamland late November and got a reply to say they were coordinating the skills of people who'd been in touch and would get back to me in the new year.

Who the hell am I? Someone who's watched most of his local seaside heritage disappear. Morecambe and Southport were big parts of my childhood and helped sow the seeds that turned me in to a rollercoaster junkie. When I saw that Dreamland was looking for volunteers I decided to put my money where my mouth is and volunteer to help. Although I live quite a way away (Loughborough) I hope to be able to make it down to Margate for a good few weekends in 2011 and 2012 and be of some use to somebody.

I've received an email from the Dreamland Trust with a volunteer registration form as a MS Word attachment but it has appeared as a near-blank document so I wonder if anyone else has received this, and whether it has opened properly for them?

The only words on the document are "hearing impaired". Pardon?

And an email address of aexample@makebelieve.com followed by the trust's 01843 number, so I imagine this is probably an earlier draft version which has been sent out.

I'd love to help, specifically helping to restore the rides. I can do other things, I used to write press releases for BSkyB but I have always preferred getting my hands dirty!

Personaly I am, and have allways been more into practical work than anything else.

We were hoping to do a mix of stuff, weeding, clearing the gutters, getting the rides running again, painting, planting bulbs, that sort of thing.
