Been having a sor tof of various boxes of "junk" something I have been meaning to do for quite a while, this was in the bottom of the box.

A holiday snap I took in 1986 when I was 10 years old (did I just give my age away!)

We stayed at the Butlins hotels at Cliftonville, I won a runners up prize in a fancy dress competition dressed as a pirate, cant find the trophy at present hopefully it will turn up, embarrassingly I found a photo of me dressed up!

An extension to the workshop building is now on that site.

Great picture there - I forgot about the Water Chute sign! Always loved these rides, Battersea Fun Fair's being my inaugural ride. Anyone else think Blackpool's signage resembled a whale, or is it just meant to be a wave? (perhaps I'm just being silly)

I remember riding this in 2004, I believe, with a coaster friend, and never forget the sudden sharp turn after the water splash. I somehow think the brake just about worked that time! This was probably its final season sadly; shame they never moved it to Southport really, but then again, maybe that wouldn't have been very worthwhile as we know that sad final saga.

Martin

PS By the way Zoidstar, I guessed you realised this version was at Blackpool with the smiley face logo on the signage. (Just that you also mentioned Cliftonville's former Butlin's hotels in the same thread) - guess that was an aside comment.

Did not know it was from Blackpool, The Cliftonville hotels was were we were staying, cant remember why we chose them, we were in the middle of the three, the dining was in the right hand side one with a few entertainments in the other, I can remember just before our visit the entertainments one had a fire so much was closed off to the public at the time.

I am still attempting to hunt down the trophy, wish I could find it as its a m=nice little bit of history to have.

I'm just trying to test out trying to post a photo I took at Viadampark, Budapest last August of a mystery ride with a dragon head on an old Margate postcard that was posted here some while ago. Hope the above link worked!

Sorry for the previous failed photo posts I attempted. (Vince did explain how to post photos here a while ago but I obviously failed badly once again; please delete posts as appropriate).

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Martin

PS If you want to see the image I tried to post look at my Photobucket link and look at third picture across from the top;

They seem to have changed the format on Photobucket a bit, but I think this should be it?

Thanks Vince - that's exactly the image I wanted to post! Apologies for being such an numbskull with this technical stuff; maybe I'll get there one day. Also, I wanted to post this on the original thread regarding the mystery old Margate ride postcard posted here some while ago but couldn't locate it.

By the way, did I solve the former ride mystery I wonder? (I have this photo as my new screensaver now by the way)

If you look at Vidampark's website and click on the Union Jack flag (for English translation) there is a great video of this ride on there for those interested.

On my post above, if you click "quote" (top right) then my original message will appear complete with the image code below it, just copy the image code and paste it into your new post on that thread.
