TDC have Margate at number one ! in this top ten.

This is what TDC should be doing something about being at number one is not good for Margate !

When Dreamland reopens, more will follow.
What the council and TDC need to do is put some regulations in place about the storefronts that are open. A while back someone here had a picture up and the windows were haphazardly plastered with dirty, faded, and crooked posters/flyers for this and that. It was pretty unsightly.

Couldn't agree more, if Dreamland was to open next week with the rides restored, new businesses would open every day and the regeneration would spread from one end of town to the other.

As much as it seems a good idea, discourage McDonalds and Starbucks from opening locations. They draw people away from the more Ma-and-Pa type places that could and should flourish here.

We have Mucky Ds in the high st, but what we need is TDC to sort out the Dreamland site before we lose it !

There are a couple of parks that have McDonald's french fries-only stands. That might be kind of fun, and wouldn't detract from other vendors selling sandwiches or dinner plates in the park.
They do have some yummy-ass french fries.

As this thread is not directly about Dreamland, this is probably a suitable place to post this.
Plans for a public memorial service in Kent for two victims of serial killer Peter Tobin have been put on hold indefinitely.
The families of Dinah McNicol and Vicky Hamilton were due to take part in an event at Holy Trinity Church, Margate.
Ian McNicol, Dinah's father, said he had been "messed about" by Thanet Council and would now hold a private ceremony in the summer
Mr McNicol, who lives in Essex, said he had lost patience with Thanet District Council over the dates of the public memorial.
He added: "I told them to shove it. They kept messing us about.
"Fair enough in December there was all the snow but then it was set to do it in March. I then rang them but I couldn't get hold of anyone.
"Then they changed it to June, which was six months away. The memorial [in the church] had already been built.
"They then changed it again to April the first, then 5 April. There's no respect for our two girls."

Given our own experiences, I have no doubt in believing Mr McNicol's version of events. What an embarrassment our local council is.
