I was looking at the Margate FC history web site ( http://www.margatefchistory.com/ ) and while looking at the photos of the ground, I noticed that they had a few shots of Dreamland when Margate used the site as their ground in the 20's if I recall.

I don't know if they have been used on here, but they do show lots of rides from high above!

Wow a hidden art deco terrace, I wonder if more terrace is under the undergrowth. It would be great to restore it and put back the fancy statues.

Could that terracing be where the seating for the summer evening fireworks were. You used to be behind the 'Queen Mary' and the car/ coach park was cleared of vehicles on, I think, Wednesday eves for the firework display set up.

Yes I am sure it is, but I seem to remember Fireworks were on the Thursday evening and from 6.00pm it cost 1 shilling (5p) for adults and 6d (2½p) for children to enter the park plus the same again if you wanted a seat on the "terrace".

Yes, now I remember. On thursday nights I could look from the front bedroom window of where I lived in Poets Corner and look to the left of St John's church steeple and see some of the more high flying fireworks. Made by Astra, who were over Pegwell Bay near Richborough, if memory serves. Happy days.
