Heritage Lottery Fund awards £3m to Dreamland Margate

Postby Nick » 22 Nov 2011, 00:13

Some fantastic news today. We have won a further £3m of grant funding from Heritage Lottery Fund, which now completes the funding for Stage One of the Dreamland Margate project. Work can start on site as soon as the Compulsory Purchase Order is confirmed.

More on the news page, including our new masterplan and an artist's impression of the new Scenic Railway station, designed by Guy Hollaway Architects:

Wonderful news. Fantastic. Amazing.

Now all that has to happen is the CPO...

Amazing, truly fantastic news.

All these years of hard work and campaigning seem to have finally paid off. Well done Nick - you thanked everyone else but without you my friend, we wouldn't be here now.

A long way to go but what a result, what a real result.

I couldn't quite believe my eyes when I just caught this news on facebook. As I commented there and the European Coaster Club's mailing list, I believe we might have been blessed with the Queen's simultaneous visit to the town on 11 November. Truly wonderful news; well done Dave Collard et al for missing out on getting a glimpse of the Queen to safeguard the Scenic's future.

Love the artist's impression of the new station too; very art deco!

Maybe it'll soon be time to offer some assistance, as required (within our skill sets of course).

There may have been quite a few naysayers out there during this long arduous fight but those that have "lived the dream" have prospered eventually. Many thanks to Nick Laister too, whose assistance and knowledge must surely have been invaluable since 2003.

Excellent news on the final bit of the funding puzzle.

Congratulations to all those who worked on this including Nick, Sarah, Susan and Dave.

Hopefully the last hurdle of the CPO will go our way and the rebuilding can start properly.

There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know.
