Hope it's ok to post this here.

We need your help to stop this monstrosity of a supermarket store towering over Dreamland and The Scenic.

Thanks

Louise

I just logged in to post the same... you beat me to it! We all should sign! Dreamland Trust has objected to the plans.

I actually got a letter from Thanet District Council recently advising me of the enquiry meetings etc. I had previously lodged an objection to the Tesco plans and was quite pleased to be kept informed.

I will also sign the online petition as I guess one might say "every bit helps" (to manipulate a certain store's promotional tag line).

Hope things go in our favour.

Just caught this Tesco related story on an Essex radio station's website I tune into now and then. Thought it could be interesting regarding what appears to be the current Tesco City culture; http://time1075.com/news/article.php?De ... cation-851

Maybe we need a similar demonstration in Margate?

Regards

Good one there EAS! I might well print one off for my car.

Rather surprisingly though, on my last couple of visits to Margate I seem to notice far less "NO to Tesco" posters in Arlington House's windows. If I didn't read into things wrongly I formed the opinion that the Council were not pro-Tesco's superstore application. (Perhaps someone can confirm this here sometime). I'll have to re-read their letter to me after my objections.

It is a sensible location for a Tesco store and conforms to the towns development plan which is to discourage out of town development and encourage town centre developments. It is highly probably it will be approved.

16th March 2012:

"..Residents opposed to a new Tesco store on Margate seafront have welcomed the last-minute postponement of a planning inquiry.

Thanet District Council said on Monday a public inquiry due to start the following day into plans for Arlington House had been postponed.

"It has got to be very good news," said John Moss, chairman of Arlington House Residents Association..."
