Just found this news article. Not directly related to Dreamland but it mentions the proposed store that could potentially be popping up in next door

Fortunately, it seems the reign of Tesco is taking a turn for the worse though what with the public inquiry, I imagine this is only a temporary situation.
Will be interesting to see exactly how this plays out.

This kind of monster has NO place seaside in a town that's trying very hard to resurrect its place as a class attraction based on it's seafront.

A Tesco's in the town centre is in alignment with both government and local planning policies where it is now policy to resist out of town stores and to encourage in town stores. A Tesco's in the town would draw people back into the town and encourage more spending in other local shops. It would also get rid of some of the empty and semi derelict buildings in the Town centre

The government £100K is just silly. What can you do with a £100K even id the shops matched it £200K is nothing considering how much of a make over the town needs. The town needs to have less shops so it really needs to decide what bits are worth keeping. It is better to have a smaller shopping area but with the shops occupied than a large one with about 30% of the shops empty

they ALL close! there isn't a shop in the UK that can compete with tesco's buying power, and regardless of what people say, price is king, they will shop at the cheapest place. Anyone who sells anything tesco decides to stock will go, so food, clothes, books, games, music, booze, electronics etc etc will all disappear.

as you already have a huge tesco, sainsburys, asda etc very very close by anyway, I really don't see why they would even consider one there

If they are serious about bringing a store like this to the seafront, I hope they at least have the decency to find ways to integrate subtly into its surroundings.
The existing concrete car park is hardly a thing of beauty, but replacing it with an even taller white metal warehouse is hardly an improvement.

I hope Tesco can be persuaded to make some adjustments to the exterior look. Public art, levels of vegetation, a vintage vibe anything to make the store look less obtrusive. I seem to remember Hemingway proposing something along those lines.

There was no way it was going to be thrown out it fully complies with local and national planning guidance which wants town centre developments rather than out of town

There is a sentence in Paragraph 24 that concerns me a little - Despite the context it's used in here (relating to the legal challenge of the CPO) the unfortunate use of the word "uncertainty" tends to add an air of..well.. uncertainty to things.
