I was hoping this would have already been mentioned on here but since it's not, I thought I may as well post it.

I just read this article from 'This is Kent'

My first thought: "what?"

Seriously though, I don't get this at all. Does it mean the cinema is no longer part of the Dreamland plans or is it a new buyer, who will simply continue either MTCRC or Dreamland Trust plans.

It is fair to say, I'am confused.

Make me think it's just one company bailing out, selling it to another that hopes the CPO won't go through. A bit of financial gambling, but sounds like the council can still CPO it whoever owns it.

I'm confused and dont pretend to know what's going on here.

So are Harris Lipman acting as receivers for MTCRC's bank?

At the top of the link it states Harris Lipman as fixed charge receivers.

A quick look in Google Land brought this up:

A fixed charge receiver may be appointed by a lender with a mortgage, charge or other security over real property or other specified assets. The appointment is quick and fairly inexpensive. The receiver will generally have broad powers to realise assets and, in respect of real property, collect rent. Unlike many other insolvency appointments, a fixed charge receiver need not be a licensed insolvency practitioner and specialist surveyors are commonly appointed. Many will be members of and comply with the voluntary code of NARA (the Association of Property and Fixed Charge Receivers).

So, basically, the cinema was flogged off to Jimmy Godden's kids when it was clear the the CPO was likely to go through, and now they are saying that the council might give up on the CPO and go over to support the cinema instead. Lovely.

The "something modern rather than something antiquated" comment was so familiar - they really are two chips off the old block.

The modern uses they propose don't seem to be compatible with the Heritage Park design, I don't see why the council would bother.
Besides, no offense to them but their proposals are hardly ingenious. An indoor golf course (presumably on the lower ground floor), galleries, a restaurant. Hm, I can't see that drawing in particularly huge crowds.

As SuburbanHomeboy said in the other topic, this isn't over just yet. Trust MCTRC to have something else up their sleeve. Regardless, I guess that is their youth community hub proposal gone, which just leaves the large housing development and their proposed "amusement park"

I read somewhere that a council spokesman said it fully intended to recover all of its costs in doing urgent works to repair the Grade II* listed building.

Does this mean the new owners will get landed with the bill?

Why does that article say the appeal is still outstanding?
