In Falkirk we have a prime unit bang in the middle of the high st up for rent for 50 quid a week,it was an old next shop so that gives you an idea of the size of it.Unfortunately it is flanked on either side by more empty shops-help Mary come and save us!!!!!!!

In short if a tenant wants to leave they cannot get out of the contract and the landlord gets more money from the 'ex' tenant who is still under contract compared to what they can now get in rent from a new tenant.

Pretty much answers the question.

there does seem a bit more life on the High Street, I guess the pro and anti Portas camps would have different views on the reason for the change.

Four more retail chains go into administation

Dwell, the furniture retailer, has confirmed the appointment of Duff & Phelps as administrator, while Internacionale, ModelZone and Ark have filed a notice to appoint administrators.
About 2,000 staff are employed by the four companies.
Internacionale, which has almost 150 stores, has lined up Ernst & Young as administrator, while ModelZone is to appoint Deloitte.
Ark, whose parent company is called Rett Retail Limited, is a fashion retailer primarily based in the north of England.
