I know that John "Budgie" McGregor owned it for a time in the 1950's - he was almost 60 then so I don't think he would still own it now.

I spoke to a mate of mine that lives just along from the Nayland Rock hotel and he said that it is going to become a Kwik Fit. Shame if that appens.

It was owned by J Godden and then MTCRC and was then sold to Jeremy Godden as part of the Cinema Building. It is now owned by Thanet council and will be handed over to The Dreamland Trust. I think i read they want it back open in phase one of Dreamland. The inside of the building was wrecked before it was handed over to the Council by the last owners.

According to my mate, and at least one other reliable source, Thanet Council intend to sell the building as they consider it to be a seperate entity, without it not having much heritage value.

Kwik Fit have put an offer in which has apparently been accepted. I don't know when these details will be released.

If it is the arcade I think you are talking about (directly under the cinema fin), then I believe it is to be retained judging from this comment Nick made a few weeks back.

"The amusement arcade is likely to form part of Phase 1, but not the Sunshine Cafe. This is all subject to surveys, bearing in mind that we have not been able to access the site to carry out surveys until last week."

I think "James" is having a quiet day in the office today and spending his time pulling a few peoples legs again.

Should've seen that one coming.

Shame the Goddens left in such a state. At least it had no real historical significance.
