Work starting on scenic railway

The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

Although work started some months ago on the mechanical parts of the Scenic Railway at various places around the UK, I am pleased to say that work on the structure will be starting on Monday:

Great news :) - any chance of there being a time lapse camera or tv show following the rebuild? ^^

I'm so pleased that work has begun on restoring this great ride. I rode the Roller Coaster at Great Yarmouth a few weeks back and it reminded me how good the Scenic was. Look forward to opening day :D

Photos of the first day's work now on the Save Dreamland website: http://www.joylandbooks.com/scenicrailw ... photos.htm

Not the most exciting of photos, but we have made a start. And that is a truly incredible moment in this campaign.
