So if the Sunday is the big opening, what's the event taking place on the Saturday evening? I arranged my weekend around the big opening, but just today an e-mail came round:

"We are now calling out for folk who would like to help meet and greet invited guests and generally help out at the launch event on Saturday 24 May between 6pm-11pm – if this is of interest, please contact..."

No mention of this event on the Save Dreamland Campaign website, or the Dreamland Trust website, and now a last-minute call for volunteers when many of us have already planned next weekend with our sights clearly set on the Sunday 2.00pm event.

I'm guessing the Sunday event is for us plebs...

Sunday is the opening event for the Dreamland Expo, where the ribbon will be cut and the centre opens its doors.

The Saturday evening preview event is for those who sponsored and contributed toward the art auction last November to raise funds to open the visitor centre to deliver the HLF’s learning and engagement programme. The centre has been funded by that art auction.

We hope to see as many people as possible at Dreamland on Sunday at 2pm for the opening; it will be an exciting taste of things to come...

When I got the Dreamland newsletter I was so excited to see this... something tangible happening at last!

Sad to say I'm too far away to be there. but with you in spirit!

Did enjoy the Dreamland expo and I'm sure it will go from strength to strength. It was great to see the young so excited about Dreamland opening in 2015 . Still sad to pull onto the Dreamland car park and look at the mess MTCRC have left behind and the car park £1.50 an hour ?

1,000 people visited on Sunday (2pm to 5pm) and 2,000 people visited on Bank Holiday Monday (10am to 5pm).

And the souvenir shop is doing very well.

Great start.
