There really are some bitter people in and around Margate.

Seeing the Expo going down so well at the weekend must have been more than they could handle. The thought of a wonderful community endeavour bringing tourists back to Margate must make them feel sick to their stomachs.

At least it looks like there was little or no additional damage caused. I hope there is CCTV footage of the attack.

its horrible thinking that another section could have been lost, probably started by lowlife wasters,is there not any security on site yet nick just wondering that if this is what could happen it probably would be better looking to secure the site asap

I really do hate the magority of people in margate ! It's not the place that's bad it's most of the people ! If I find out who did this I will personally pay them a visit or tell the police straight away as these scumbags need to be found ASAP ! We need top security on the site and CCTV ! We need to act fast very fast !

More than six years on and people are still trying to harm the Scenic.
All I can say is, well done to those who alerted the emergency services and for their rapid response. Never would have foreseen a repeat incident happening so soon. Goes to show how important security can be.

Stupidity runs rampant, apparently.
No, most people are good, if a little selfish. Just a few bad apples.

Do the plans for the Scenic Railway include fitting a fire suppression system (sprinklers)?

For a (relatively) low cost a sprinkler system would offer a substantial amount of protection and extinguish or contain any future fires.

Unfortunately it seems that the site is vulnerable (and will continue to be even after re-opening). It would be worth the redevelopment of the park to get Secured by Design advice to help reduce vandalism or arson in the future.
