1977 water Shute

I remember more than afew years back there was pictures of a replica water Shute that we had at dreamland starting from 1977 and then left dreamland at the start of 1996 and the save dreamland campaign told us that the replica water Shute was saved so I just wanted to know if this is still the case ? It would be fantastic to see that running at dreamland as I remember that baby ! If nick could put some light on the subject would be great !

It wasn't a replica water chute, it was an original. We have the cars and mechanical parts in storage of the Rhyl water chute and it is possible that in the future they could form part of a restoration, but there are no current plans to do that.

It would really mean alot to me if that ride came back to dreamland as its the only one that you have saved that was in the bembom era would be cool to have it in the exact same location as the 1977 one ! I know it's a long shot and not sure if the original big blue looping star that came to dreamland in 1982 would be classed as a heritage amusement park ride but I would be over the moon to see that looping star back In dreamland and I'm sure the bembom brothers still own it

Apart from the big old soon to be reincarnated wooden one (!) the water shoot was my favourite ride there growing up... they had one in wales as well and one in Blackpool until fairly recently. Other fond memories were the Mary Rose (late bembom i believe) and the 2 types of catapiller 'coasters - the big apple and some kind of red bug one that went round twice... cant wait to "do" dreamland again next year... good work to all involved. thank you.

The Water Chute parts that are saved are not from the original Dreamland Water Chute.
The Benbom version was demolished by Godden in 1996. It was not rescued.

I noticed a ride like the ladybird coaster at Lightwater Valley, the track layout wasn't the same so I couldn't say for sure it's the same one.

What was the exact colour of the water Shute at dreamland ? Was it a light blue colour ? Was it a green colour ? It's very hard to tell in the pictures that I've seen , I'm talking about the structure not the track or lift hill , if anyone knows the exact colour please let me know

When the ride was built and at Battersea it would of been on a wooden structure and painted. When the Water Chute was bought to Dreamland its original track was placed on a new galvanized frame which was never painted. The ride looked like it was new in 1977 and took the first resting place of the Cyclone steel coaster that was moved further up the park.

If you look at some of the bembom photo gallery's I'm sure the water Shute is painted and I'm sure mick Tomlinson painted his model of the wate Shute , I just need to find out what colour he painted his water Shute model

i cant say for sure , it was Galvanized steel when it first went in.I did not go to Dreamland much towards the end of Bemboms as there was little change in the rides in the park. I also felt that the rides there were slowed down so much they were dull. The park was much better pre Bemboms , my school friend Howard RIP also left there about 1986 so no getting in there on the cheap.
